Mary Emeji founded the very first Luton Poetry Society in June 2011, and became the first inaugural Poet Laureate of Luton in 2012.
The Mayor of Luton Councillor Syd Knight in 2012 said “I am very impressed with the amount of work Mary has done in a relatively short time to promote the work of poetry in Luton. We do need to raise the profile of our poets in Luton, and she has done a lot to make that happen.”
The Luton Poetry Society regularly meets monthly at the Luton Central library for poetry recitals and workshop.
The wonderful family of poets stayed connected with virtual meetings online during the COVID lockdown in 2020.
Luton Poetry Society now celebrates a milestone of 10th anniversary this year 2021, with the brand new anthology “Forever Poets”.
